Arko, 97, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.Born on May 20, 1928, with her twin sister Merle Meadows, in Midvale, Utah. Myrt was the daughter of William and Jane Olive Reid. She grew up in a large, lively family as one of eleven children. Throughout her life, she made her home in Park City and La Verkin, Utah, two communities she loved deeply and contributed to wholeheartedly.On November 19, 1949, Myrt married Louis Martin Arko. Together they raised three sons: Bill, Steve, and Dennis. Family meant everything to Myrt, and her legacy lives on through 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, each of whom she adored.Myrt was known for her kind and generous spirit, her undeniable sass, and her gift for connecting with everyone she met. A true social butterfly, she brought energy, humor, and warmth wherever she went. She enjoyed life's simple pleasures, from cheering on her favorite game shows to watching Judge Judy with enthusiasm, and she never passed up the excitement of a good gamble. She also loved watching sports, especially cheering on her beloved Green Bay Packers.She spent many years working in hospitality and lodging, where her friendliness and strong work ethic made her a natural fit. Myrt was also deeply involved in her community and was always willing to lend a hand, share a smile, or brighten someone's day.Myrt is preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her sons, Dennis and Steve; her parents; and all ten of her siblings. She is survived by her son Bill and by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward with love.The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Enhabit Home and Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Myrt. A special heartfelt thank you goes to her nurse, Char; her CNA, Kennia; and her nurse practitioner, Jamie Romney. Their kindness, attentiveness, and gentle support made Myrt's final days peaceful and full of dignity. Their loving presence brought great comfort to both Myrt and her family, and their dedication will always be remembered with gratitude.A viewing will be held on March 5, 2026, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at Larkin Mortuary, 3688 W 12600 S, Riverton, Utah 84065. A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date in La Verkin, Utah, where she will be laid to rest.Myrt's kindness, humor, and devotion to her family will be remembered always.
