Myrle Astrope ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Olpin Family Mortuary on Mar. 6, 2026.To describe Myrle's life requires a bit of creative liberty. His life can be described as sufficiently suffoncified. Normally, the use of sufficiently suffoncified means that you have eaten your fill and could not eat any more, and Myrle certainly lived life to its fullest.Myrle's adventure began along with his twin sister, Byrle, on a frigid, 50 degrees below 0, January night in a blizzard in Torch River, SK. There was no way to travel to a hospital, so Myrle and Byrle were born at home. The doctor arrived at the farm by snow plane as any other passage was impossible.Myrle was always a lover of animals and as a young boy, he had a pet squirrel that he would take with him to school, and his squirrel would curl up in the pocket of his shirt and sleep during class and entertain everyone during breaks. Myrle also had a pet bear named Yogi that he would feed by hand in a quarry in British Columbia.Myrle had many more adventures in life but none greater than the adventure he had with the love of his life, Jacalene Astrope. Myrle saw Jackie in the Canadian Pacific Railway office in Lethbridge, Albert and knew instantly that he was looking at his future wife. He told her so on their first date and she told him he was crazy. Myrle and Jackie married on October 24th, 1959, and were later sealed in the Cardston LDS Temple.Myrle and Jackie had an adventurous 65 years together and raised 5 children. Leann, Brent, Kelly, Tyler, and Trevor. They relocated the whole family from Alberta to Pleasant Grove in 1980. Myrle was heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America for close to 40 years.Myrle is preceded in death by his parents, Craig and Laurene Astrope, his wife, Jacalene Astrope and his sisters, Byrle Astrope and Joyce Green. He is survived by his sister Eunice Heiken and his children, Leann (Gary) Boyer, Brent (Janet) Astrope, Kelly Astrope, Tyler (Atessa) Astrope and Trevor (Amber) Astrope and his 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11th at 11:00 am in the Battle Creek Seventh Ward Chapel, 1106 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove, Utah.
