Though small in stature, Suzy had a personality and spirit that filled every room she entered. Her contagious laugh and beautiful smile could brighten anyone's day.Suzy spent her early years attending the Willowbrook State School before beginning a new chapter of her life in the North Country. On March 17, 1986, she moved to the Constable A IRA through Citizen Advocates, where she quickly became known as the beloved "Lady of the House." Suzy loved spending time in the office with the staff, where she could often be found happily sitting and enjoying the company of those around her.Suzy found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved splashing in the water, relaxing, and listening to music. Whether it was enjoying a sunny summer day sitting on the back porch, watching birds and squirrels gather nearby, or heading out for a fun adventure, Suzy truly embraced each moment.On November 7, 2013, Suzy moved to the 168 IRA, and later in 2025 she moved to her final home at the Route 37 IRA. Throughout her life in the North Country, she enjoyed many outings, trips to local recreation parks to swim in the pool, shopping excursions, and meals out with staff and friends.One of Suzy's absolute favorite treats was going out for Chinese food. She was known for playfully reaching over to scoop a little rice from a staff member's plate when they weren't looking always followed by a joyful giggle that made everyone around her laugh.In her later years, Suzy was blessed with the opportunity to retire from her day program and spend her days with dedicated one-on-one staff. She truly loved this time and cherished the special bond she shared with the two staff members who spent their days alongside her, bringing her comfort, companionship, and happiness.Suzy will always be remembered for her joyful spirit, playful personality, and the happiness she brought to those around her. She touched many lives in quiet but meaningful ways, and her laughter and smile will never be forgotten.Her memory will live on in the hearts of the staff, friends, and caregivers who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.Calling hours will be held at St. Mary-Murphy-Wilcox Funeral Home on Friday, March 13 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.Spring burial will take place at the Brainardsville Cemetery.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
