Ms. Phyllis Anne Harris

September 26, 1947 March 4, 2026

Carthage, TX

Phyllis Anne Harris, age 78, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. She was born on September 26, 1947, in Miami, Florida, to Ruth Anne Kranz and Paul Hancel Harris. As the daughter of a career military officer, she moved frequently during her childhood, beginning her education in Michigan, continuing in Marshall, Texas, and graduating from Carthage High School with the class of 1966. She went on to earn degrees from Panola College and the University of Texas at Tyler, graduating magna cum laude with a degree in accounting.

Phyllis enjoyed a long and varied career, working as a legal secretary, an office administrator in real estate development, and for more than thirty-five years in the banking industry. She retired from First State Bank & Trust Co. in 2017 following a stroke. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of the River of Life Worship Center, where she served as pianist and Sunday school teacher. In her later years, despite physical challenges, she continued to worship at home through the teachings of David Jeremiah, Jeff Shreve, James McMenis, John Hagee, and others, and served as a devoted prayer warrior with Crosspoint Church in Carthage. She found great joy in babysitting her grandchildren, caring for her cats, working with the Boys and Girls Club, and supporting spay-and-neuter efforts for pets. She also cherished watching Flashpoint, Victory News, and other conservative Christian programming, as well as listening to praise and worship music.

She is survived by her three sons, Todd Malone and wife Stacie, Trevor Malone, and Trent Malone and wife Ashley, all of Carthage; grandchildren Kason Malone, Logan Anne Malone, Cheston Malone, Peyton Malone, Avery Malone, Whitton Malone, Lyla Thames, and Shelby Eskandani and husband Ramtin; great-grandson Grayson Malone; sister Cathy Sibley; brother Billy Harris and wife Gina; special cousins Bue Harris, Reba Allison, and Buddy Harris and wife Judith; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, sister Nancy Williams, special aunt Geneva Harris, and very special grandmother Allie Bue Harris.
