Ms. Betty Mae Ray

Betty Mae Ray, 75, of Fairmont, passed away on March 7, 2026, one day before her 76th birthday. Born on March 8, 1950, to the late Charlie Reed and Lavenia Reed, she lived a life marked by quiet strength and deep devotion to her family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Raye Jr., her daughter Nechelle Renee Raye, her parents, her brother Charles Reed, and her sisters Annie Crawford and Carolyn Reed. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda L. Turner; her grandchildren, Lasasha Raye, Raheem Turner, and Preston Turner (PJ); her sisters Brenda Rogers (Lee) of Maryland, Patricia Love (Shorty) of Lumberton, North Carolina, Linda Reed of Proctorville, North Carolina, and Lois Reliford (Bill) of New Jersey; her brother Herald Reed of Proctorville, North Carolina; her uncle Lorenzo Wilson (Lisa) of Lumberton, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Those who knew Betty will remember the love she held for her family and the care she received in her later years from her devoted caretakers, Kay, Latoya, Ms. Karen, and Larry J. She leaves behind a legacy of family connection that will continue through the lives of those she cherished.
