Stella Mae Hammonds Thomas, 93, of Alexander City, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on July 20, 1932, in Talladega County, Alabama, she was the cherished daughter of Mayo Hammond and Minnie Lee Carpenter Hammond.

Stella lived a life rooted in deep Christian faith, which guided her every action and defined her generous spirit. She had a profound love for gardening, tending her flowers and plants with the same nurturing care she showed to everyone around her. Her home was a place of constant warmth and hospitality, where family extended far beyond blood ties. She embraced many as her own, welcoming them with open arms and making each person feel truly cherished.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mayo and Minnie Lee Carpenter Hammond; her brothers, Wesley Hammonds, Johnny Hammonds, Terry Hammond, and Roy Dean Hammonds; her children, Randall Dale Thomas and Rhonda Ann Cotney; her granddaughter, Heather Thomas; and her sister-in-law, Gaynelle Hammonds.

Stella is remembered as a woman of unwavering love, strength, and compassion whose kindness touched countless lives. She leaves behind an extended family of children and grandchildren, both by birth and by heart, who will carry her legacy of acceptance and generosity in their own lives.
