Mrs. Sandra Bridges

Mrs. Sandra Bridges

October 10, 1944 March 4, 2026

Denver, CO

Sandra Bridges passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at her home in Denver, following a courageous battle with illness. Born on October 10, 1944, in Beaumont, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of the late Marion Cooper Sr. and Mary Williams.

A graduate of Charlton Pollard High School, Sandra went on to attend cosmetology school and later earned an Associate’s degree in Business online. In 1972 she married the love of her life, James R. Bridges, in Denver, Colorado. She began her career in administration with the Sheriff’s Department, later working in home health and telecommunications before retiring from Qwest Communications.

Deeply devoted to her faith, Sandra was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she served on the Usher Board, in the Choir, and as a Deaconess. She was also an active member of the Black Caucus and served as a Delegate Representative of Colorado. Passionate about civic engagement, she worked tirelessly on political campaigns for Mayor Webb, Bill Clinton, and President Obama.

Sandra’s warm smile, generous spirit, and love for her family were evident in everything she did. She cherished hosting Sunday dinners, sharing her faith with others, and offering support and encouragement to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, James Rufus Bridges; her daughter, Rhonda Hickman; grandson, Lonnie Hickman; and many other beloved family members.

She is survived by her five children, Byron McIntosh, Cornell Bridges, Erika Bridges (Adrian) Spruell, Nikki Bridges, and Parish Bridges, along with six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
