Ruth Wald ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Davenport Funeral Home, Inc. - Walhalla/West Union on Mar. 17, 2026.Ruth Pearson Wald, 94, wife of the late Verner Morris Wald of West Union, passed away on Monday March 16, 2026 at Lila Doyle.A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Wald was the daughter of the late John Evan and Idell Mae Rankin Pearson. She was the eldest of nine children and lovingly served as a caregiver to her family. Mrs. Wald retired from the Torrington Company and had also been employed at B.C. Moore Department Store. She volunteered with Lila Doyle's "Coffee Club" for more than twenty years and was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.Mrs. Wald is survived by daughters: Brenda W. Lee and her husband Bobby of Seneca, Phyllis W. Phillips and her husband Phil of West Union; son: Curtis Wald of West Union; sister: Lois P. Smith; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 23, 2026 at the Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1405 Ebenezer Rd.
