September 20, 1952— March 12, 2026
Eagle River, AK
Pamela M. Fountain, 73, formerly of Malone, New York, passed away peacefully at home in Eagle River, Alaska on March 12, 2026.
Pam was born on September 20, 1952 in Malone, New York, the daughter of Wayne and Shirley (Snyder) Fleury of Westville. She graduated from Salmon River School in 1970. That same year she married David Fountain in Munich, Germany, where their son Robert was born. After returning to Malone in 1974, Pam earned a degree in Licensed Practical Nursing from North Country Community College and later obtained her Registered Nursing license.
For more than thirty years, Pam devoted herself to a nursing career that touched many lives. She worked at William Manson and Alice Hyde Nursing Homes, in Public Health, and at Bare Hill and Franklin Correctional Institutions. Those who knew her remembered her as a dedicated, hardworking woman who genuinely loved people.
In 2017, Pam moved to Alaska to be cared for by her daughter Deanna and son-in-law Christian Ware as she lived with end-stage renal disease. She found joy in simple pleasures, including lunches and games at the Constable Adult Center with her mother and friends, shopping and meals with her dear friend Bonnie, and memorable road trips along the Alcan Highway. One cherished journey was a 17-day, 7,000-mile adventure with Deanna and Christian that took them through Sequoia, Yellowstone, and Banff National Parks before ending with a night on the Las Vegas strip.
Pam is survived by her son Robert Fountain and his wife Michelle; her daughter Deanna Fountain and her husband Christian Ware; her mother Shirley Fleury Reid; a chosen brother, Francis Clark; two nieces, Stephanie Mayville and Kayley LaMay; her granddaughter Lauren Fountain; and her great-granddaughter Lennox. She will be laid to rest at St. Francis Cemetery beside her late husband David.
