Myrtis Ammons ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Graniteville on Mar. 4, 2026.Mrs. Myrtis Marie Widener Ammons, 81, entered into peaceful rest on March 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and devotion to her family.The family will greet friends on Monday, March 9, 2026, beginning at 11 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, South Carolina 29829. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Jonathan Randall and Stephen Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens.Serving as pallbearers are Kip Smith, Tyler Brooks, Casey Winsett, Zach Moody, Kenny Rogers, and David Coursey.Mrs. Myrtis was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Cecil Widener, Johnny Widener, Daisy Brooks, Ida Mae Smith, Myrtle Baird, and Horace Widener and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Emma Gean Toole Widener.Born in Aiken, South Carolina, to the late Welcome Widener and Bell Lowe Widener, Mrs. Myrtis carried her hometown roots proudly throughout her life. She retired from Rite Aid Pharmacy, where she faithfully served as a retail project manager, helping open new stores and forming many lasting friendships along the way.She attended Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville, SC. Mrs. Myrtis lived out her faith through kindness, generosity, and a servant's heart. She was a gifted Southern cook whose kitchen was often the heart of the home, filled with delicious meals and even sweeter fellowship. She delighted in collecting elephants, but nothing brought her greater joy than her "babies" - her children, grandchildren, and the many special young people she lovingly embraced as her own.Left to cherish her precious memory are her son, Chris Brooks of Alabaster, Alabama; her bonus daughter, Angela Rogers; her grandchildren, Tyler Brooks and Krystal Roberson (Brian); her great-grandboys, Bejamin, Thomas, and Tobias Roberson, and her special children, Alisha Winsett (Casey), Anna Bevington (Hunter Norman), Hunter Rogers, Kenny Rogers, Lauren Rogers, Madison Rogers, and Bailey Rogers, dear friends Martin and Lib Posey and Betty Brooks.Her love was steady and abundant, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
