Mrs. Margaret Ann Holman

Margaret Ann Holman, age 87, of Shelbyville, passed away on March 8, 2026. Born on April 25, 1938, to Ervin and Irene Woodard in the Bedford-Richmond area, Margaret was a hard-working woman who often held two jobs at a time, sometimes after only a few hours of sleep. She began her working life in domestic and factory roles before spending many years at Stanley Tools. Even after retiring, she returned to work once more before finally settling into a peaceful retirement filled with her beloved hobbies.

Margaret found great joy in gardening, tending both flowers and vegetables with care. Neighbors often saw her out in her yard, mowing the lawn herself or greeting friends as they passed. She also loved visiting the thrift store, where she enjoyed browsing and occasionally donating items to help others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Irene Woodard; two children, Ghitana and Matoya; four sisters, Lurlene, Lillie Mai, Kathrine, and Minnie; and three brothers, Tom, George, and Ervin Woodard. Margaret will be deeply missed by her daughter Gloria (George), son Dennis, daughter Lucita, thirteen grandchildren—including her special “road dog” Donny—sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, especially her devoted nieces Dell, Fanny, and Sonya. She also shared a cherished bond with her special friend, Ella Mae.
