Southworth, 88, of Burke, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026 at her daughter's home, surrounded by family and aided by Hospice of the North Country.Born on January 17, 1938 in Gabriels, NY she was the daughter of Donald E. and Ernestine (Trim) Marlow.She was married to Robert Southworth on May 30, 1957 in St. George's Church by Rev. John Stone. He predeceased her on January 2, 2021.Joyce graduated from Chateaugay Central School. She worked as a clerk at Tru-Stitch in Malone and served as the Town of Burke tax collector for several years. She owned and operated Southworth Farms with her husband. She was a communicant of St. George's Church, Burke. She loved to read and enjoyed flowers. She passed many beloved family recipes down to her children. She had a deep love of cats and was always found with her beloved dog, Rosie by her side. She was a lover of pizza and ice cream.She is survived by two sons, Brian Southworth (Denise) of Malone, Craig Southworth of Burke; two daughters, JoAnn M. Southworth and Julie M. Stalker (Christopher) of Burke, a daughter-in-law, Kelly Southworth of Bangor; special niece and sixth child, Terri Stewart of Pine Bush; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Bruce Mills of Palmyra, NY; a sister-in-law, Ruth Southworth of Malone; a niece, Lisa Crowder or Lyons; nieces and nephews; special friend and caretaker, Mary Dragoo; as well as caretakers, Edie and Tiffany.Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a son, Bruce Southworth; a sister, Helen Marlow; and a brother, Anthony Marlow.A memorial service will be held on May 30, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Chateaugay Funeral Home.Burial will immediately follow in St. George's Cemetery, Burke.Donations in Joyce's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
