Constance Fisher ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - St. Matthews on Mar. 5, 2026.Constance Mae Fisher (Greene) passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of February 25, 2026, at the age of 87. "Mom or Connie", as she was known to family and friends, had been in the care of the Nazareth Home, Clifton Campus of Louisville, KY for the last 16 months of her life.Mom was born the first of four children (Jackie, Bill, and Georgeann) to George William Greene and Ruth Garnetta Greene (Slie) on June 2, 1938, in the City Hospital of Bellaire, Ohio. Connie was raised by her maternal grandparents, Charles and Ida Slie, in the northern WV panhandle town of McMechen on the Ohio River. Here, she attended and graduated from Union High School in Benwood, WV.Mom married Earl Martin Fisher, also of McMechen, on November 26, 1958, and they had three sons, Charles (Susan), Michael (Jeannie), and Steven (Hilda). Mom was the grandmother of five, the great-grandmother of three, and served as a surrogate grandmother to several other children.Earl was an Air Force pilot, which meant mom had the opportunity to live in numerous areas of the country, but they finally settled in Louisville, KY. In Louisville, Mom worked for and retired from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Human Services, serving in the food stamp and Inspector General's offices.Mom very much enjoyed children, traveling, her extended family, late-night games of dice such as ten thousand and bunco, along with hearts, spades, and bridge. She never turned down a good cheeseburger, fish sandwich, or a slice of DiCarlo's pizza. Many of the young cousins fondly remember their extended summer visits to Aunt Connie's house with her and the three boys. In spite of whatever issues might be burdening her, mom always genuinely tried to help others through whatever means she had at her disposal. As a mother, grandmother, and one of the matriarchs of the family, Mom will be sorely missed.Visitation will be held on March 7 from 11 am to 2 pm, followed by a memorial service at the Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, Louisville, KY.Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, from 10:30 am until the time of her 12 pm funeral service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home in Weirton, WV, 3219 Main Street , Weirton, WV.Minister Rick Tinsky will officiate.Interment will follow immediately in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 135 Gilson Ave., Weirton.Share online condolences at www.grecohertnick.comTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
