BARBARA ANDERSON FITZGERALD, 94, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, in her residence at The Presbyterian Manor in Wichita Falls, TX, surrounded by loved ones. A native of Houston, Texas, born on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1931, Barbara lived in several locations throughout the state, but the place she felt most at home was Estes Park, Colorado. She enjoyed the surroundings of the wildlife, especially the rabbits and deer, the sound of the river, the view of the Rocky Mountains and the memories she had throughout her many years spent there. She retired in Wichita Falls, TX, where she enjoyed her daily 2-mile walk, baking special goodies, working on her crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and volunteering in her community. Her love of travel took her on many adventures including Ireland, which holds a special place in her heart. Barbara had an amazing memory and shared entertaining stories, from throughout her lifetime.Preceded in death by her parents, Ottis Anderson and Stella Riley Burns, her husband of 42 years, Thomas George (TG) Fitzgerald, her daughter, Barbara Jo Fitzgerald Davis, and several siblings. Survivors are her sons, Tommy Fitzgerald (Debbie Fitzgerald), Tim Fitzgerald (Paula Fitzgerald), Barry Fitzgerald; her daughters, Linda Cook, Beverly Peterson (Mark Peterson); 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren including 1 due in March and 1 great-great grandchild.A special thank you to the staff at The Manor, the Helping Hands Hospice Nurses and Dr. J. Robert Parkey, MD., who made sure she was taken care of during the last few months of her life.At her request, in her final wishes, there will be no memorial or funeral service. She wished to be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, unselfish friend and energetic person.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
