Willie Eaves ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Myers Mortuary & Cremation Services at Alpine Road on Mar. 2, 2026.Willie Eaves Sr. was born on April 8, 1947, in Barnwell South Carolina, to the late Lemuel Eaves Sr. and Edna O'Berry Eaves.Willie accepted Christ at an early age. He later joined Zion Canaan Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina, where he served faithfully as an usher and as a member of the Brotherhood Ministry.Willie was educated in the Barnwell County Public School System and was a graduate of Butler High School in 1966. Willie was employed at the Savannah River Site. He built a long career as a truck driver, working with several companies over the years. Later in life, he was employed by Helping Hands, where he eventually retired.In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother: Nazarene Simmons, Josephine Jones, and Joseph Eaves. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in- law, Ernest Hankerson; his sister-in-law, Minnie B. Eaves; and his grandson, LaQuan Shariff Eaves, Sr.Those left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Deloris Jones Eaves; two children, Marcia F. Eaves and Willie (Tasha) Eaves, Jr.; three loving grandchildren, Shacori'ya Eaves, Adrionna Eaves, and Desteni Eaves; and ten great-grandchildren, whom he adored tremendously.Also, left to cherish his memories are his siblings: Rose (Harvey) Hayes, Lemuel (Martha) Eaves, Ivory Hankerson, Johnny (Mary) Eaves, Florie Eaves, Julian (Essie) Eaves, Mary (Bill) Brown, Robert (Lil) Eaves, and Albertha (Sherman) Becoats.Willie was a godly man and a man of his word-a true hero. He was the wind beneath the wings of so many who loved him. Affectionately known as "MacGyver," he was a man of many talents and trades. If something was broken, Willie could fix it. He was truly a jack of all trades, from solving math problems to fixing cars and completing home improvement projects. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand and would go to great lengths to assist anyone in need. Family and friends meant everything to him. He welcomed everyone into his home with warmth and generosity. He had an exceptional sense of humor that could brighten anyone's day. He carried strength, wisdom, and quiet resilience. No matter the circumstance, he never complained. He was loving and dependable-a true pillar of strength for his family and community.His memory will forever be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
