Terry Louis Hines Sherrod was born on December 22, 1964, to Mary R. Hines and Johnny Sherrod, Sr. in Bethel, North Carolina. He passed away on March 5, 2026, at ECU Hospice House, surrounded by his loved ones.

Terry graduated from North Pitt High School in 1984 after attending school in the Pitt County system. He worked for several years at Grady White Boats, where his natural talent for working with his hands shone through. He found joy in repairing and building things and was a trusted handyman to family, friends, and neighbors throughout his life.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved watching classic western television shows, especially Gunsmoke and The Rifleman. Terry also enjoyed dancing and spending time with family and friends, bringing laughter wherever he went. Known for his warm personality, he never met a stranger and quickly became a lifelong friend to those he encountered.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Sherrod, Sr.; his paternal grandmother, Charlotte Sherrod; his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Annie Hines; and his beloved paternal great-aunt, Emma Mooring. Terry is survived by his mother, Mary R. Hines of Bethel, North Carolina; his siblings, Phyllis Stevenson of Raleigh, North Carolina, Kim LeGrand (Chris) of Greenville, North Carolina, Ricky Hines of Winterville, North Carolina, Chris English of Bethel, North Carolina, Johnny Sherrod, Jr. of Greenville, North Carolina, and Demetrius Sherrod of Bethel, North Carolina; his uncles, Bobby Hines (Annie) of Bethel, Lonnie Hines of Charlotte, and Roosevelt Hines of Bethel; his aunts, Annie Mae Neville and Johnnie Mae Hines, both of Bethel; his special friend and caregiver, Katrina Brown of Williamston, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
