He departed this life on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.Michael joined Triumph Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.Michael received his education from Pactolus Elementary School, Wellcome Middle School and North Pitt High School, he later received his GED. Michael had many jobs in his lifetime, in later years he worked with Mr. James Harris in Farmville, NC using the different skills he had.Michael loved celebrations for himself and other people. He loved his family and friends.Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Jean Ward and James Earl Ward.Michael repented and accepted the Lord as his savior in February 2026.Michael leaves to cherish his memories a faithful devoted friend and caretaker, Shirley Davis and his dog, Diamond; his sons, Darion Johnson of Greenville, NC, Raheed Johnson of Bunn, NC, Michael Johnson of Las Vegas, his daughters, Ebony Young of Washington, NC and Monique Hyman (Joseph) of Greenville, NC; ten grandchildren, King, Marcellius, River, Kehlani, Kaziyah, Kayson, Gabriella, Violet, Ivy and Malcolm; sisters, Patricia W. Perkins (Timothy) of Greenville, NC, Sandra F. Coppedge (Robert) of Farmville, NC, Jannell R. Brown (Ken) of Decatur, GA, Shelia Parker (Michael) of Windsor, NC, Dominika Keys (William) of Winterville, NC; brothers, James Battle (Denise) of Winterville, NC, Montreal Brown of Greenville, NC; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and TI have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
