Marvin B. Parker, age 66, of Shelbyville, passed away on March 6, 2026. Born on December 6, 1959, in Shelbyville, Marvin lived a life marked by deep love for his family and a passion for adventure and hard work.
He cherished time spent with his wife, brothers, nephews, nieces, and parents, whether at home or on outings. He especially enjoyed traveling with his dogs, taking them on road trips in his truck. A licensed airplane pilot, he found freedom in the skies, while his captain’s license allowed him to navigate the open ocean, often exploring the islands of the Bahamas. He also loved long rides across the country on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and found joy in fishing, from wading in local creeks to deep-sea excursions.
A natural entrepreneur, Marvin built and operated numerous successful businesses over the years, including ventures in masonry contracting, home building, land development, utility contracting, real estate, automobile sales, lumber sales, and a fast-food market. He was skilled at operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, track hoes, backhoes, tractor trailers, and directional drills. Each endeavor reflected his hard work, ingenuity, and willingness to embrace new challenges.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lee Parker, Sr., brother, Bobby Lee Parker, Jr., and step-son, William B. King. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Dorothy (King) Parker; mother, Pauline Parker; brother, Michael Ray Parker and his wife Wanda; half-brother, John Lee Parker; step-mother, Linda Parker; two step-daughters, Valerie Clanton and Mary Beth Wooten; step-sister, Kim Fuller; and numerous nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
