He was born May 28, 1941, in Lexington, Missouri to Louellen and Edward Slaughter. He was preceded in death by both parents, sister Jacqueline Barnes, brothers Edward, and John \Slaughter.Louis graduated from Lexington High School in 1958. He attended Central Missouri State University. He went into the Army, and was honorably discharged in 1965. He returned to Central Missouri State University and gradated in 1967, with a bachelor of science degree. He taught French and Spanish at the high school level for a few years. He worked in the office of Faultless Starch Company for several years. In 1970, he became the writer for a black syndicated cartoon strip called Butter and Boop (It was in the Kansas City Star newspaper). He and artist Ed Carr were featured in Ebony Magazine (February 1974 issue).In resent and past years, he's been involved with Big Brothers Organization, managing and or owning real estate, involved in a Bar ownership and was a counselor with the Dismass Cuban House. His favorite hobbies were fishing and reading.He will be greatly missed by his wife of 51 years Mary McGee-Slaughter; his son Louis V. Goins; daughter Michele L Goins; sister Geraldine (john) of Kansas City, Missouri; brother Michael of Lexington, Missouri; he'll be missed by seven grandchildren; nieces; nephews; extended family members; and friends.Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, 2pm at Watkins Heritage Chapel.
