January 24, 1960— March 11, 2026
High Point, NC
Jake Hagler III, of High Point, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2026. Born on January 24, 1960, to the late Mary Alston Hagler and Jake Hagler Jr., he was preceded in death by his brothers Tony and Maurice Hagler, his grandparents Rosalee and Nathan Williams, his nephew Maurice “Boss” Hagler, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A longtime member of Williams Memorial CME Church, Jake retired from the City of High Point after years of dedicated service. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served with courage and commitment. He was also an active and respected member of the Toussaint L’Ouverture Lodge #524, PHA, and the Abdallah Temple #189, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed meaningfully to their shared mission.
Jake loved his family deeply and made each person feel valued and cherished. A natural servant leader, he approached life with purpose, enthusiasm, and an infectious energy that brightened every room. He held a special place in his heart for his South Side family and friends, who became like a second home to him. With his warm smile and genuine kindness, Jake had a remarkable ability to connect with others; to him, there were no strangers, only friends he had yet to meet. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and connection that will continue to touch all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Necy Mills Hagler; his daughter, Cherrita (Calvin) Scaife; his sons, Jake Hagler IV and Donavaun Mills; six grandchildren, Jamont, Keyanna, Tyler, Treyvon, Jordyn, and Kobie; and one great-grandson, Tristan. He is also survived by his sisters, Audria (Norman) McIntyre, Teresa Hagler, and Tracie (Dana) Deverlie; his brothers, Derrick Hagler and Carl (Kathy) Hagler; and a large, loving extended family of aunts, uncles, in-laws, bonus children, and lifelong friends from the Toussaint L’Ouverture Lodge #524, PHA, Abdallah Temple #189, White Rose Chapter #157, Order of the Eastern Stars, and many others.
