Jack T. McDonald, Jr. passed away on March 14, 2026, at Harborview Healthcare in Thomaston, Georgia, at the age of 80. Born on August 21, 1945, in Upson County, Georgia, Jack spent his life perfecting his craft as a respected body repairman. He owned and operated McDonalds Body Shop for many years before continuing his work at Steve Hannah’s Body Shop, where his skill, precision, and personal care for every project earned him lasting admiration.
A 1963 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute who also attended Upson Tech, Jack found deep fulfillment outside of work through his passions for fishing and music. He cherished peaceful days along the Flint River and played guitar in several local bands, sharing his genuine love of music with friends and fellow musicians. A longtime member of Thomaston First Methodist Church, he remained connected to his community throughout his life.
He is survived by his former wife and caregiver, Cheryl Pharr McDonald; his daughter, Elisabeth “Beth” McDonald of Marietta; his son, Sam McDonald of Thomaston; his stepdaughter, Lisa Sikes of Macon; and two grandsons, Gabe and Julian Bernardino.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack T. McDonald, Sr. and Mary Fowler McDonald; his wife, Debra McDonald; his daughter, Amy McDonald; and his brother, Jeff McDonald.
