Albert Cooper ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Evans & Browne's Funeral Home on Mar. 9, 2026.Albert Cooper, beloved husband, father, brother, son, uncle and grandfather (lovingly known as grandaddy, grandpa, g-daddy), advisor and friend, passed away March 9, 2026 at age 90. He was born July 19, 1935 in Forrest City (St. Francis County), Arkansas to the late Georgia and James Cooper.Mr. Cooper enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and served in the Korean War. During his tours of duty, he received the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.In 1958, he married Jessie Mae Brady and in July 1959, they moved to Saginaw, Michigan. Mr. Cooper worked two jobs to support his family until he eventually secured a position with the U.S. Postal Service. He retired after 34 years of service. Albert and Jessie loved fishing and taught their children how to catch and prepare fish. The family's early morning fishing trips north to Edenville always ended with the family seated around the dinner table enjoying spaghetti and fried fish.After the death of his beloved wife Jessie, Albert stepped fully into both parental roles as a listening ear and an advisor. His children often referred to him as "Superman" because he was available for his children whenever and wherever needed. Albert Cooper was an avid bowler and on March 31, 1982, he bowled a perfect 300 game and was featured in the Saginaw News. He was known for carrying his bowling ball in the trunk of his car just in case he wanted to bowl a game or two. He also was a gardener, enjoyed electronics and computers, and was a handyman who enjoyed working on home electrical and carpentry projects.He leaves to cherish his memory his six children, Melvin (Magnolia) Smith of Forrest City, AR, William D. Cooper of Cleveland, OH, Carl A. Cooper of Atlanta, GA, Linda F. (Christopher) Tatum of Saginaw, MI, Kathy M. (Torrye) Loveless of Atlanta, GA, and Georgette Flowers of Southfield, MI and his 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.Albert was the last surviving child of 11 children of Georgia and James Cooper: Maggie Ella Hawkins, James Anna Pinkston, Mitt William Cooper, Miles Grant Cooper, Mary Cornelia Jones, James Milton (Buster) Cooper, Richard George Cooper, Alexander Summerton Cooper, Pauline Eliza Williams, Kenneth (Kitt) Cooper.Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. The family will be present from 10:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
