Montey was born on June 3, 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine Patterson, and Florence and Isaac A. Cotman, as well as his older brother, Larry Patterson.Montey attended the Charles City County public schools. At a very young age, he found Christ and be July of 1999, Montey was a minister. He spent many of his years being dedicated, devoted, and very much involved at Little Elam Baptist Church. Montey drove tractor trailers for well over 40 years: it's safe to say that he loved the road. He was dedicated to instilling his knowledge unto others. 64 years young, Montey was always doing something. If he's not driving those trucks, he's fixing something! Montey was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.He leaves behind to cherish his love and memories, his sons, Montey Jr. (Samone), and Isaac Cotman (ShaTeka); two step daughters, Shantelle Bates (Jamel), and Kathy Paige; nine grandchildren, Jhurney Cotman (JRAD), Iviona Cotman (8bBall), I'Mani Cotman (CueBall), Maize Cotman (PushRod), ShaRyan Paige (Big Hulk), Melissa Cook-Williams, Jamesha Paige, Javion Bates, and Jemani Bates. Montey had many friends, but a few of his devoted friends include Carla and Daryl Cotman, Harolds Jones, Monica and Arnold Brown, Tony Tyler, Victor Randall, Bernard Brown, and a host of other relatives and friends.A funeral service will be held 1PM Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Little Elam Baptist Church, 8840 Church Ln, Charles City, VA 23030.
