Monica GeAna Pennick

Monica GeAna Pennick, affectionately known as Gina, was born on August 11, 1963, in Austin, Texas, and passed away in March 2026. With a vibrant spirit and an ever-present smile, Monica brought warmth and joy to everyone around her. Her infectious laughter, kind heart, and genuine empathy made her a beloved presence in the lives of her family and friends. She found simple pleasures in solving puzzles, caring for her baby dolls, opening presents, and flipping through her favorite magazines.

A proud graduate of Rosedale Elementary School, class of 1985, Monica lived at Pilgrim Place group home, where she was far more than a resident. She became the heart and soul of the home, offering love, humor, and light to those who shared her days. Though she was never employed, her role in nurturing connection and happiness was deeply meaningful to all who knew her.

Monica is survived by her loving mother, Jamesetta Holmes, family member Capucina Walton, and sister Mitzi Atkins. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Harold Pennick.

She will be remembered for the way she made others feel, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and the quiet grace of a life lived with an open heart.
