Mitchell Kovacevich, a cherished husband, loving father, devoted grandfather, and caring brother, passed away on March 3, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on January 13, 1947, in Galveston, Mitchell lived a life defined by generosity, integrity, and quiet kindness.
A Vietnam veteran, he served honorably in the U.S. Army before returning home to Galveston, where he worked as a skilled boiler maker. Known for his dedication and the respect he showed his fellow workers, Mitchell remained deeply rooted in the Serbian Orthodox Christian faith throughout his life. His beliefs shaped his character, guiding him to offer help and support to those around him without hesitation.
In his free time, Mitchell found great joy and peace as an avid fisherman, spending many contented hours on the waters around Galveston. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Prendergast-Kovacevich, his daughter Tausha Jebbia, his granddaughter Giavanna Hays, and his sister Patty Kovacevich-Allen, along with extended family and many dear friends. Those who knew him will remember his warm smile, open heart, and the steady courage and generosity that touched everyone in his life. His memory will be cherished and honored.
