Miriam Twiname ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Swartz-Givnish Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 16, 2026.It is with love and memories that we mourn the passing of Miriam Ray Twiname on March 8, 2026. Miriam grew up in Ridley Park, PA and is predeceased by her parents, Jesse Everett Ray and Margaret Eriksen Ray and her husband James Dean Twiname, Jr. She is survived by her brother Martin E. Ray (Shirley Iman) sons Kevin and Eric (Christine) and her grandsons Michael and Daniel. A long time resident of Langhorne Manor Borough, Miriam was a resident of Pennswood Village and passed due to complications arising from dementia at age 87.Miriam had many interests in life from clarinet to bell choir to travel to weaving, but rooted her identity in nursing. Graduating from Syracuse University and Presbyterian Hospital (Presby), working as a school nurse in Philadelphia Schools, graduating Summa cum Laude in one of the first classes of the University of Pennsylvania's MSN Nurse Practitioner program, and working in both public and diocese schools throughout Philadelphia. She continued this passion after retirement providing volunteer service with Doctors Without Borders in Kenya, Katrina relief and other locations.Miriam was known to put everything she had into anything she pursued. In retirement she and her husband visited every continent at least once, rebuilt houses on a second trip to Katrina relief with Habitat for Humanity, served as a deaconess for both Morrisville Presbyterian Church and Newtown Presbyterian Church (separately), was a member of the Handweavers of Bucks County and a member of Eastern Star.Miriam will be cremated and interred next to her husband at the Newtown Presbyterian Historic Church site.
