Miriam “Marti” N. Young, 79, passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born on May 26, 1946, in Gloversville, Marti was adopted at a young age by Mr. and Mrs. Waring. She graduated from Gloversville High School and later returned to school to become a registered nurse. She worked in the emergency room at Johnstown Hospital, with the Fulton County Coroner’s Office, in adult supervision and child protective services for Fulton County, and as an instructor for foster care. She also owned and operated the Pine Tree Restaurant in Broadalbin, played a key role in helping the Regional Animal Shelter secure its current property in Gloversville, and spent 16 years as a cook at Jackie's Diner before retiring. In retirement, she served several years as the Broadalbin Town Assessor until her cancer diagnosis in January 2026.
Marti loved the outdoors and found joy in hiking, camping, fishing, and boating. She was known for her generosity and her readiness to help anyone in need.
She is survived by her husband Danny; her children Jennifer, Daniel, Brandon, and Angela; and many extended family members and friends. She is also remembered with gratitude by longtime family friends Tabitha, Sara, and Jim, along with Samantha and Marti Lynn, who cared for her with love and compassion during her final months. She was predeceased by her brothers Tom and Ron and her adoptive parents.
