Miriam Kaye Scott
May 28, 1945— March 10, 2026
Bucyrus, OH
Miriam Kaye Scott, age 80, of Bucyrus, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 28, 1945, in Galion, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Mary (Leonard) Poland. Kaye was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ronald Scott Sr., in October 2023. The couple married on April 23, 1965, and shared a deep and enduring love.
A graduate of Colonel Crawford High School class of 1963, Kaye devoted her early years to being a stay-at-home mother before working in medical records at several nursing home facilities and later as a secretary for Prudential in Bucyrus. She was a gifted artist who took great joy in teaching her grandchildren to paint in the Bob Ross style. She also played the piano, created ceramics, and was a talented cook and baker, widely known for her grape pie, rich brownies, and the many treats she prepared for family gatherings during the holidays. A former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Robinson, Kaye lived for her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She delighted in spoiling her grandchildren in ways her own children were never allowed, often to the good-natured dismay of their fathers.
She is survived by her sons, Ron (Ronda) Scott and Steve (Stacey) Scott; grandchildren Dalton (Kelsea) Scott, Micaela (Christian) Slaubaugh, and Mariah (Brennen) Marsillett; and her siblings, Dale Poland and Karen Knapp. In addition to her parents and husband, Kaye was preceded in death by her siblings Willard, Mart, Herbert, John, Betty, Shirley, Barbara, Sandy, and Mary.
