Miodrag Nikolic ObituaryPublished by Legacy on Mar. 10, 2026.It is with deep sorrow that the family of Miodrag (Djoko) Nikolic announces his passing on February 28, 2026 at age 86.Miodrag was born in Sarlinac, Srbija on May 17, 1939. After completing his army obligation in the former Jugoslavija, he attended the Allied Craftsman Trade school in Austria where he learned the intricacies of masonry building and structural engineering. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1963 and became a naturalized citizen in 1972. Miodrag perfected his trade and was a highly sought after master craftsman for his attention to detail and impeccable work ethic. Stone masonry was his specialty, he designed and built hundreds of fireplaces, accent walls and grand entryways throughout Chicagoland in commercial businesses and private residences, including those of family and friends. The innumerable homes built by his hand are a testament to his mastery; he was a bricklayer extraordinaire. He loved to work and continued to do so into his late 70s. He was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for 59 years and had attained life-long membership status.Miodrag married Frances (d. October 27, 2023) in 1966 and is survived by his three children, Mare, Mira and Toma. He was a son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, husband, father, grandfather, friend and Kum.
