Minnie Harper ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Aria Cremation Service and Funeral Home - Preston Road on Mar. 10, 2026.Minnie Ruth Davis HarperBorn September 7, 1936, at Cape North, Labrador, Canada to Mary Ann and John Davis, Minnie was the third of eleven children. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 24, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Stephen Anthony Harper, and three of her siblings: Bob and Sidney Pardy and John Clarence Davis.As a child, Minnie heard a calling to help others and discovered that she wanted to be a nurse; she left the family home in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador and traveled to St. John's Newfoundland to enroll in the General Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduation, she moved to Xenia, Ohio and was employed there as a Registered Nurse at Greene County Memorial Hospital.Missing home, Minnie returned to Happy Valley and sought employment at Goose Bay Air Force Base Hospital. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Stephen Harper, who also worked on base as a teacher. They married in Terneuzen, Zeeland, Holland, the Netherlands and, after a year in Schweinfurt, Germany, moved back to El Paso, Texas where they raised their two sons, Stephen and Michael. Minnie also went on to work as an RN in Alpine, Vernon, Morton, and Richardson, Texas until she retired in 1996.If you ask anyone that knew her, Minnie would be described as kind and sweet. She genuinely cared for people, especially her family. Minnie's family was the most important thing to her and she treasured them. In Minnie's final days she said on more than one occasion how lucky she was to have such a wonderful family. All that knew her loved her and she will be greatly missed. She will live on in our hearts and memories and we celebrate that she is in Heaven.Minnie is survived by her husband, Stephen; her son Michael (Angela); grandchildren Christian, Ethan, and Jackson; siblings Vera Butt; Manuel, Josh, Eldred, and Sam Davis; Rita Massie; and Harold Davis.The family wishes to thank the caregivers at LoveWell Hospice and LoveWell Care Services, as well as the staffs at Remington Transitional Care and Appletree Court Assisted Living, for the care they all gave Minnie in her final days.Services will take place on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas, 75254.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Minnie's name to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund (curealz.org) or the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration (transfiguration.net).To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
