She was born on November 18, 1943, in Lockesburg, Arkansas, to Minnie Ayers and Marion M. Dixson and spent her life in the Lockesburg area, where she built her home and raised her family.On November 18, 1960, she married Robert David Renfrow in Lockesburg. They shared 45 years of marriage before his passing in 2006.Laverne was a devoted mother and grandmother who valued family above everything. She loved reading and rarely passed up the chance to settle in with a good book. She was known for her sharp wit and silver tongue. Her words could be cutting at times, but those who knew her understood it often guarded a very soft heart.She had a special place in her heart for her dog, Maggie, who stayed close by her side.She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie Ayers and Marion M. Dixson; her husband, Robert David Renfrow; her daughter, Arlene Renfrow; her brothers, Leo Dixson and Eugene Dixson; and her sisters, Allene Thornton, Mary Conaster, and Earnestine Smith.She is survived by her daughter, Janice Helms; her son, Bradley Renfrow; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.Laverne will be remembered as a woman who spoke her mind, loved fiercely, and left a lasting mark on those who knew her.A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2026, at Coulter Memorial Garden in Lockesburg, Arkansas, with Bro.
