Mineko Jones, 91, a retired inventory control technician at Wesley Medical Center, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Born in Japan, Mineko married her husband Donald in 1958 while he was stationed with the Navy in Sasebo. The couple moved to California in 1960, and she became a U.S. citizen in 1963. She was known for her warm hospitality, her skill in Japanese cooking, and her dedication to teaching Tole painting well into her later years. A woman of deep faith, Mineko loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a longtime member of New Life Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Jones, and two grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Jones. Mineko is survived by her sister, Fusako Yamamoto of Kazusa-machi (Minamishimabara), Japan; her sons, David (Leslie) Jones of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Dean (Angie) Jones of Park City, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth (Shawn) Terry, Lillian (John) Lafond, Olivia (Jonathon) Abbott, Caroline (Philip) Mouring, Kathryn (Riley) Harter, Tyler Jones, and Zachary Jones; and four great-grandchildren, Tony and Mike Terry, and Wilder and Theo Mouring.
