Mimi Holbird, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 12, 2026, in Woodhaven, Michigan, at the age of 74. Born on March 26, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, she lived a life marked by deep love, quiet dedication, and generous service to others.

A devoted homemaker, Mimi found joy in the simple pleasures of daily life. She was an accomplished cook and baker, famous among her family for her rich pasta sauce, buttermilk fried chicken, and the apple and pumpkin pies she lovingly prepared for her grandchildren. A talented seamstress, she spent many hours crafting beautiful blankets for children at the hospital. She also created intricate birthday and wedding cakes, always with careful attention to detail. Mimi took pride in her beautifully decorated Christmas trees, tended her garden with care, and embraced each day with a gentle, giving spirit. Above all, she cherished her family and played an active, loving role in raising and supporting her grandchildren.

Her love of music remained a constant throughout her life. From singing in the Allen Park choir during her school years to performing alongside her husband Billy as he played guitar, Mimi’s voice brought warmth to many moments. She was also a proud member of Sweet Adelines, sharing her passion for barbershop harmony with fellow singers. Known for her sweet nature, selfless heart, and kindness toward people and animals alike, Mimi lived with grace and quiet strength.

Mimi was preceded in death by her grandsons, Austin Tyler Dietrich and Jacob Colin Dietrich; her brother, Norman Goddard; her sisters, Judith Goddard and Kathryn Castle; and her parents, Thomas and Margaret Goddard. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Billy Holbird, Jr.; her daughter, Shannon Dietrich; her son, Billy II (Sarah) Holbird; and her cherished grandchildren, Brendan (Hannah) Holbird, Katie Dietrich, and Brooke Holbird. She also leaves behind her brothers, Tom (Joan) Goddard, Dave (Mary) Goddard, and Doug Goddard, along with many extended family members and dear friends. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
