February 15, 1945— February 27, 2026
Asheboro, NC
Milton Hammer Redding, 81, of Asheboro, joined his beloved wife, Linda, in heaven on February 27, 2026. Born on February 15, 1945, to Viola Sanborn Redding and William Frank Redding, Jr., he was the youngest of three sons. He attended Oral Roberts University, where he majored in Biblical Literature and completed his thesis on Wisdom Literature. From an early age, Milton cultivated a deep and purposeful relationship with Jesus Christ that guided him throughout his life. A longtime member and former deacon of Spoons Chapel Christian Church in Asheboro, he lived with unwavering faith, selfless compassion, and a quiet joy that touched everyone around him.
Those who met Milton immediately felt accepted, loved, and supported. Quick to smile and offer a light-hearted joke, he saw the best in others and in the world. He knew the Bible intimately and shared its wisdom generously with those he loved. Beyond his faith, he cherished the history of all kinds, the beauty of mountains and sea, and the excitement of college sports, particularly University of North Carolina basketball and all things Tar Heel. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who taught his family the value of gratitude, humility, and steadfast devotion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William Frank Redding III and Donald Sanborn Redding, and his wife, Katherine Linda Lewallen Redding, who passed away on February 8, 2026. The love he and Linda shared was profound and inspiring, and her recent loss affected him deeply.
Milton is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Cameron Redding of Nashville, Tennessee; his stepdaughter, Katherine Craven Vestal (Jack) of Coleridge, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Rosalie Ashlyn Hinke and Arianwyn Teagan Webber of Nashville; his step-grandchildren, Jack Barnes Vestal III “Trey” of Coleridge, and Tristan David Vestal (Taylor) of Sophia; his great-grandchildren, Mason, Micah, Everlee, and Matilda Vestal; his brother-in-law, Horace P. Lewallen of Asheboro; and his nieces, Rebecca, Marianne, Nancy, Julie, and Sally.
