Mildred Ford Saunders

Mildred (Midge) Ford Saunders peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her children. Born in Dallas, Texas on July 7, 1928, she was preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. Ford and Lockie Mae Burtis Ford; her brother, Charles L. Ford Jr.; and her husband of 60 years, Clyde A. Saunders Jr. She is survived by her sisters, Bimmie Ford Findlay and Judy Ford Boker; her children, Kathy Saunders Rogers (John), David Ford Saunders (Robin), William (Bill) Douglas Saunders (G'Anna), and Nancye Saunders Drukker (Steve); eight grandchildren, John Ford Rogers (Allison), Hannah Rogers Sternberg (Brad), Zach Saunders (Sarah), Jake Saunders, Fletcher Johnson (Brittany), Will Saunders, Meredith Drukker Stratigopoulos (JT), and Saunders Drukker; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
Midge spent her childhood summers at the camps founded and directed by her parents, fostering a lifelong love of the outdoors and the beauty of creation. She could often be found tending her garden, feeding the birds, or painting in her studio. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, she attended Hockaday Junior College and Southern Methodist University, earning a degree in art in 1949. At SMU she met the love of her life, Clyde Saunders, and was active in Pi Beta Phi Sorority and other campus organizations.
She taught at Dealey Elementary School and Robert S. Hyer Elementary School in Dallas before devoting herself to raising her children. Midge and Clyde moved to Kerrville in 1990, where she remained deeply involved in her church, Bible Study Fellowship, and the Hill Country Arts Foundation. A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, she was a faithful wife and mother, a loyal friend, and a creator of beauty who touched many lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
