Her passing marks the close of a remarkable chapter defined by grace, strength, and unwavering devotion to family, faith, and community.Born on July 16, 1926, in El Dorado, Arkansas. Mildred was the beloved daughter of Erven and Edna Williams. At the tender age of five, she relocated to South Bend, Indiana, where she would be raised as the eldest daughter in a large and loving family of twelve siblings. From an early age, Mildred embodied leadership, compassion, and quiet resilience. She was not only regarded as a "Sistah" but fondly revered as a guiding maternal presence among her siblings, a role she carried with dignity and care throughout her life.In 1950, Mildred united with Edward, Earl Denny Jr and with this union chain seven children. Mildred and Edward would go on to great entrepreneurship owning their very own dry cleaning company Edward and Mildred spent many summers with family and friends in Idlewild Michigan at their vacation home which would be treasured and memories for decades to come.In 1957 Mildred joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith blossomed and her commitment to Christ became a cornerstone of her life. Through decades of devoted membership, she served faithfully across numerous ministries, offering her time, wisdom, and steadfast spirit. From Catalpa to Olive Street, Mildred cultivated deep and enduring friendships, leaving an indelible impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. At the time of her passing, she held the distinguished honor of being the eldest living member of her beloved church.Professionally, Mildred dedicated many years of service to IBM, where she excelled as an administrative office manager. Known affectionately as "Millie" by colleagues and friends alike, she carried herself with a signature elegance and professionalism that earned admiration and respect. She would later retire in 1987. Following her retirement, she devoted even more of her time to her church community and cherished moments with her expansive and loving family.Mildred will be remembered for her impeccable class, refined sophistication, and the warmth she extended so freely to others. Her legacy is one of strength, faith, and enduring love.She leaves to cherish her memory her six children, Horace (Hillary) Denny, Annette Scott, Jeanette Prince, Edward (Donna) Denny, Anita Gentry and Stacia Ladson. Fifteen grandchildren, Sixteen great-grandchildren, and Two great-great-grandchildren. She is also remembered by her godchildren Andre (Kareemah) Gammage, Traci Gammage and Cheryl (Paxton) Reed. Along with a host of extended family members, friends, and all whose lives were touched by her presence.Mildred was proceeded in death by her husband, Edward Earl Denny Jr. Both parents Erven and Edna Williams, one daughter, Marsha Denny, and five brothers and sisters.Though she has departed from this earthly life, Mildred Denny's spirit remains a guiding light, an enduring testament to a life beautifully and faithfully lived.The Denny Family would like to thank the Medical Team at Ernestine Raclin House for your generosity and dedication during this time.Visitation for "Mama Denny" will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm at Palmer Funeral Home - West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 am At Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
