Mike Reed

Mike Reed, 70, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Born on October 23, 1955, in Christian County, Kentucky, Mike was the son of Lushin Reed and Lee Emma Reed. He worked for many years as a paint line supervisor for C&F Stamping and Autostyle Plastics before opening Reed’s Body Shop in Hopkinsville, continuing the family business his father had owned in other locations.

A lifelong lover of automobiles, Mike was widely respected for his exceptional talent in body work and paint detailing. In his younger years he enjoyed building hot rods and restoring classic cars, particularly his beloved 1970 Chevelle and 1969 Roadrunner. He was also an avid sports fan who took great pleasure in following Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball. Those who knew him will remember his fondness for sharing stories and laughter with family and friends, as well as the deep pride he took in his children and grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Lushin Reed. He is survived by his mother, Lee Emma Reed of Hopkinsville; his son, Michael Reed Jr. of Hopkinsville; his daughter, Jennifer (Dr. Robert “Bobby”) Green of Cedar Hill, Tennessee; his brother, Earl “Bubba” (Kathy) Reed of Cadiz, Kentucky; and his sisters, Mary Schwark and Tricia Efird, both of Hopkinsville. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Alexis Harper and Houston Deason of Hopkinsville, and Layla Reed and Josie Reed of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, along with several beloved nieces and nephews and the mother of his children, Sandra Davis King (Dennis Kozac), who remained a close friend and caretaker.
