Mike “Pup” Jones
November 13, 1951— March 11, 2026
Decatur, TX
Mike “Pup” Jones, 74, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Born on November 13, 1951, in Decatur to Kenneth and Vera Alexander Jones, Mike grew up in his hometown and graduated from Decatur High School. He spent 42 years as a parts man at James Wood Motors, where his hard work, reliability, and easygoing nature earned him lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike.
Above all, Mike was a devoted father, proud grandfather, loving brother, uncle, and loyal friend. Family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with those closest to him. An avid outdoorsman, he found great joy in hunting and fishing, especially when sharing those experiences with his son and grandsons. The memories created in the woods, on the water, and around the family will remain treasures for those he leaves behind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Vera Jones; his seven brothers, Bobby, Jackie, Shannon, Joe, Jimmy John, David, and Keith; and his two sisters, Julie Cottrell and Jane Miller.
Mike is survived by his son, Fred Jones and wife Dana of Runaway Bay; his grandchildren, Brody and wife Ashlynn of Rockport, and Brac and Bowen of Runaway Bay; his sisters, Joy Litton of Robinson and Sonya Jones of Bridgeport; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He will be remembered for his deep love of family, his strong work ethic, and the stories, laughter, and warmth he brought to every gathering. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet his legacy endures in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
