Micky Ray Hammon of Decatur passed away on Sunday, March 8, surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Morgan County, he leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and deep love for his family and community.
A devoted Christian, Micky was a loving husband to his late wife, Pam, and a cherished father to his children. Known for his warm and welcoming spirit, he never met a stranger and was admired by many for his genuine kindness. He worked as an electrical contractor and served four terms in the Alabama State House of Representatives, including as Majority Leader, where he took great pride in representing his district and the people of Alabama.
Micky found his greatest joy in the outdoors, spending cherished time hunting and fishing with his sons and daughter.
He is survived by his sons, Jake Hammon and Colter Hammon; his daughter, Davis-Anne Hammon; his brother, Ricky Hammon (Shannon); his sister, Cindy Hammon; his mother-in-law, Ann Moses; and his grandson, Gage Hammon.
