Michelle "Shell" Mathis

Michelle “Shell” Mathis, 45, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Houston, wrapped in the arms of her husband, Jacob. Born on June 19, 1980, she was the daughter of Loy Zane Barton and Anita Barton. Michelle devoted more than twenty-five years to her work as a hairstylist at Casual Corner, Hair & Co., and Blossom Med Spa, where she also became a talented lash technician. She built a loyal clientele through her skill and dedication, while finding deep joy in baking, weekend shopping trips with her husband, and creating a magical Christmas for everyone around her.

Above all, Michelle was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished her role as “Honey” to her first grandchild, Bostyn Zane, and poured her heart into making lasting memories with her family. Her comforting presence and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Loy Zane Barton. Michelle is survived by her loving husband of nearly fifteen years, Jacob Mathis; her mother, Anita Barton; sons Sklyer Bohn and his partner Quinn Keil, Seth Bohn, and Slade Mathis; daughter Samantha Bohn and her fiancé Mason Ryan; grandson Bostyn Zane Ryan; and many other loving family members and friends.
