Micheal Levern Klegstad

June 4, 1952 March 9, 2026

Hallock, MN

Micheal Levern Klegstad, 73, of Hallock, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center.

Born on June 4, 1952, to Catherine and Levern (Ernie) Klegstad, Mike grew up in Hallock. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where he served as a sacristan and usher. He graduated from Hallock High School in 1970 and went on to study drafting at Northland Technical College in Thief River Falls.

Mike first married Michelle Lysfjord, and together they had three daughters, Heather, Heidi, and Hayley. After their divorce in the 1980s, he moved to White Bear Lake, where he met and married Allison Amey in 1989. They had a daughter, Keri, and two sons, Tommy and Billy. Drawn back to his hometown, Mike returned to Hallock, purchased Crane Johnson Lumber, and renamed it KTB Lumber. He lived by the motto, “If Hallock doesn’t have it, I don’t need it,” and remained a steadfast supporter of his community.

He enjoyed bowling, curling, cooking, remodeling his home, and driving and showing his cherished 1955 Buick with the Valley Cruiser Club. Mike was known for his willingness to help call bingo at the fair, the Eagles, or Lions Club benefits. Each November found him hunting with friends at Custom Border Camp, and he spent many summers mowing and maintaining the hunting shack.

Mike is survived by his father, Ernie Klegstad; his siblings, Merietta (Denny) Johnson, Tom (Sharlene) Klegstad, Yvonne (Tom) Lykken, Cathy Peterson, Robert (Kim) Klegstad, Deb Meseck, and Keith (Joelle) Klegstad; his four daughters, Heather (Karl) Johnson, Heidi (Todd) Carlson, Hayley (Zach Zacharison) Klegstad, and Keri (Brian Ulmer) Klegstad; his two sons, Thomas (Kelly) Klegstad and Billy (Gabby Schmiedeberg) Klegstad; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine; his infant sister, Doris; brothers-in-law Greg Maloney, Robert Peterson, and Kirk Meseck; and nephews Tyler Klegstad and baby boy Weiler.
