Michael W. Spreen

Michael W. Spreen, 60, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026 at Addeo House, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born on December 6, 1965 and raised in Huguenot, Staten Island, Michael was the son of Joan and Fred Spreen and one of six siblings. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Dawn E. Esten. He is survived by his beloved siblings Laura Benvenuto (Mike), Susan Delury, Frederick Spreen (Karen), and JoAnn Spreen. Michael was a cherished bruncle to Lee Anne Paholek (Edward), a loving uncle to Jennifer, Jesse, Freddy, Steven, and Daniel, and a great-uncle to Bobby, Samantha, and Billie Marie. He is also survived by his son, Patrick Spreen.

A skilled tradesman, Michael worked as a stone setter and played an important role in the construction of Battery Park City. He had a lifelong passion for mechanics and motorcycles. A proud Irishman, he embodied a fun-loving, kind, friendly, and welcoming spirit, always generous and quick to help anyone in need.

Michael will be remembered for his kindness and his deep love for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
