March 22, 1949— March 11, 2026
Peekskill, NY
Michael Samuel DePalma passed away on March 11, 2026, at home with his wife Caryl, the true love and partner who shared his life. He was 76 years old. Michael lived with a rare energy and generosity of spirit that touched everyone around him. His bright eyes, big laugh, and even bigger heart drew people in, creating fast friendships wherever he went.
He found joy on the dance floor, the golf course, the beaches of Long Beach Island, behind the wheel of his Shelby Mustang, at the racetrack, at the gun range, and through the lens of his camera as a wedding photographer. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren, who called him Papa. Michael held degrees in Psychology and Education and studied Criminal Justice, which led to an 18-year career in law enforcement. He retired as a well-respected Sergeant from the Village of Ossining Police Department.
He made every day brighter and left those around him feeling loved and safe. Michael had a gift for making the ordinary feel special, and those who knew him will carry forward his example of strength, resilience, and deep appreciation for life and love.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Angelina (Agosta) DePalma, and his sister Gloria Beasley. He is survived by his wife, Caryl (Bogardus) DePalma; his son Michael (Jonely) DePalma and granddaughter Camila; his daughter Lauren (Michael) Dorien and grandchildren Lily, Luke, Brendan, Haven, Chloe, and Brynn; his daughter Rachel (Michael) Lubniewski and grandchildren Emily and Nora; and his sister Arlene (Guy) Adams.
