Michael completed his elementary, high school, and college education at the University of San Agustin in Iloilo, earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1976. In 1981, he married the love of his life, Victoria Arroyo. The couple soon immigrated to the United States, where they built a life together grounded in perseverance and family. Over 46 years of marriage, they raised three children. Michael delighted in sharing with them his love of good food, movies, music, cars, firearms, craftsmanship, and history, while offering the wisdom and guidance that helped shape their lives. His weekends and quiet moments were often filled with the simple pleasures and laughter he cherished most.
Preceded in death by his parents, Reynaldo and Luz Lataquin, and his brother, Simon Reuther Lataquin, Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Victoria; his children, Janmarie Lataquin Barta (husband Joshua and their daughter Izabella), Mike Raymond Lataquin, and Mark Richard Lataquin; his brothers Reuben, Reuel (wife Lorna), and Peter (wife Melvisa); his sister, Lourdes Lourella Lataquin Cruz (husband Bernard); his sister-in-law, Corazon Lataquin; and several nephews and nieces. He will be remembered as a man of quiet dedication to his work, his family, and the life he built for those he loved.
