Michael Randall Lyall

Michael Randall Lyall, affectionately known as Bear, of Rainelle, passed away after a brief illness at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center on March 7, 2026. He was 78. Born on June 3, 1947, on Loops Road to the late William Carl and Ila Hanson Lyall, Michael lived a life centered on the outdoors and hands-on pursuits. Fishing, hunting, hiking, leatherwork, blacksmithing, and karate brought him deep satisfaction. He retired from the Greenbrier Hotel after forty years of dedicated service and held two black belts in karate. He also enjoyed attending flea markets and selling the tools he crafted.

Michael was a religious man who saw the world in clear terms of right and wrong, with no gray areas. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Molly Taylor, and nephews Charles Boone and W.C. Taylor.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Brenda; his sister Dolly Weese; his brother Everette Lyall; two nieces, Elizabeth Hook and Victoria Lyall; and two grand-nephews, Riley and Chase Boone. In keeping with his wishes, Michael was cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
