He was predeceased by: his father Henry H. "Hank" Matthias. He is survived by: his mother Beverly Matthias (Helmstetter); his siblings, Brenda Langley, Sandy Simpson (Dave) and Matthew Matthias; and his siblings' child Chris Langley.

A rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Pruett Funeral Home (208 N 5th St, Atchison, KS 66002). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Benedict's Church (676 St Benedicts Rd, Bendena, KS 66008).
