November 3, 1951— March 6, 2026
Danville, IL
Michael William Pothast, affectionately known as Loser, was born on November 3, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Raised by his parents, Kenneth and Edith Pothast, he grew up alongside his brothers Grouch and Daniel. Michael is survived by his son, Neven Murphy, stepchildren Neva Alexander, Emily Matthews, and Seth Pendleton, along with many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tamara Pothast, known as Lil Bit, his parents, and his brothers Grouch and Indy Dan.
A passionate rider, Michael spent much of his life on the road aboard his 1947 Harley Davidson Knucklehead. This love for motorcycling led him to become a dedicated member of the Sons of Silence motorcycle club for more than 43 years, where his brothers Grouch and Indy Dan also joined as club brothers. An accomplished artist, he owned Mike’s Tattoos in Danville, Illinois, as well as Terre Haute and Covington, Indiana, creating work that left a lasting impression on countless people. A man of deep faith, he found joy in sharing his beliefs by handing out Jesus figurines to those he met.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
