Michael Lester "Mike" Cook

Michael L. "Mike" Cook, age 68, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at NMMC in Tupelo, Mississippi. Born on September 21, 1957, in Vernon, Alabama, to the late Lester Cook and the late Frances Frye Cook, Mike graduated from Sulligent High School in 1975. He built a long career in the automotive industry, working at Hyster and serving as a car salesman at Maddox Motor Co., Boyett GMC, and Boyett Chevrolet. He later became General Manager at Yerby Chevrolet, Mike Freeman Chevrolet, and Freeman Polaris in Fayette, Alabama.

Mike was deeply involved in his community, always ready to serve and quick to make friends wherever he went. He was a dedicated member of the North Lamar Rescue Squad and found great joy in working on cars. A man of faith, he previously attended Freewill Chapel FWB Church and People's Tabernacle. His charismatic personality and humble heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his brother, Marshall Cook and his wife Charity of Sulligent, Alabama; his niece, Ashtan Moore of Bessemer, Alabama; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Frances Cook.
