Born on February 20, 1947, in Olney, Maryland, Michael's life was a testament to his unwavering thoughtfulness and the love he held for his family, his country, and his dogs.Michael was the cherished son of the late Michael Lee and Ruth (Burdette) Hanigan. He shared 33 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Karen Marie (Grimes) Hanigan, who stood by him as a partner in all of life's adventures. His in-laws, Jim and Jo Ann Quinn, held a special place in his heart, as he did in theirs. He treasured the friendship of his long time friend Ronnie Cashon.A proud veteran of the US Army, Michael served his country with honor and distinction. His dedication to service extended into his civilian life, where he excelled as a supervisor in the security industry.Michael's passion for sports was a constant throughout his life. He found joy and excitement in the competitive spirit of the games he loved, and this enthusiasm was paralleled by his avid collection of baseball cards, a hobby that connected him to the history and heart of America's favorite pastime.The Hanigans' home was always filled with the warmth and companionship of their beloved cocker spaniels.
