Emerald Isle, NC
Michael Lee Bridwell, of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 66.
Born on August 30, 1959, in Carteret County, North Carolina, Michael was the son of the late R.W. Bridwell and Lora Bridwell. He grew up and lived most of his life in Lenoir County before making his home on the Crystal Coast, where he took great pride in the life he built there.
Mike was the owner and operator of Mike Bridwell Construction, where he earned a reputation as one of the hardest workers around. Known for his dedication, craftsmanship, and unmatched work ethic, he left a lasting mark on the community and on everyone who had the opportunity to work with him. Affectionately called “Snake” by many, he truly loved life and lived it to the fullest. The beach brought him great joy, and he cherished weekends in Atlantic City making memories and sharing laughter with family and friends. A devoted Kentucky basketball fan, he loved cheering on the Wildcats. Above all, Mike adored his dogs, Finley and Emmie, who brought him constant happiness and companionship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Bethany Bridwell; his mother, Lora Bridwell; his daughter, Ashlyn Pridgen and her husband Daniel of La Grange, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Christian Quick and his wife Maddy of Seattle, Washington, Blayden Pridgen, and Hazlee Pridgen; and his sister, Donna Bridwell. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, R.W. Bridwell, and his brother, Danny Ray Bridwell.
Mike will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his deep love for family and friends, and his ability to embrace life with enthusiasm. His presence, laughter, and hardworking spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
